Mindy – Our New Team Mascot

Mindy was added to our team some five months ago. She is a “fluffy” Labradoodle, which of course is a mixture of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle, who has been painstakingly fluffed out with a wire brush by her dad, until she is the envy of all the other girls in the neighborhood. She is a trained service dog, who was adopted at 5 years old from a Central California training facility. She has a wonderfully sweet disposition, and like all service dogs, is incredibly well behaved. She is smart, she is friendly, and enjoys the company of all kinds of people. Miraculously, she adores the water—but not swimming in it. She goes every day with the crew to Marina del Rey, either to ride on the chase speedboat, or to take long walks along the edge of the marina while I row.

She went to her first race, the “Nationals”, in Oakland, California. She managed very well, despite the large crowd of several thousand people, with huge boats being carried hither and thither. All the while being petted by 97.6% of those in attendance. She can’t wait for the next big race in Sarasota, FL, where she hopes to make it 100%. She’ll be on duty as mascot at the Marina del Rey Regatta on November 4th. She’d love to meet you!
